Riding Into History had a very busy couple of weeks attending many different events for the Daytona Bike week and Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. We started out the week before bike week helping the AMCA Sunshine Chapter set up their annual Swap Meet.  We then we set up the Riding Into history booth at the event.  It was a lot of fun to see all the swap meet vendors and bike show entrants come in.  Always great to catch up with fellow enthusiasts. On Friday we set up at the Vintage Motorcycle Alliance Swap meet in Eustis, Fl.  There the …

Riding Into History Announces 2018 Grand Marshals

Riding Into History Newsletter

In the long, distinguished history of flat track there is one motorcycle that exemplifies the sport, has dominated for decades, and resonates with fans, the Harley-Davidson XR750. We are very pleased to announce that the two legendary American racers most connected with the great XR750 have agreed to serve as Grand Marshals for the 2018 Riding Into History Concours d’Elegance. Bill Werner is literally the father of the XR750. Born within walking distance of the Harley factory, Bill began working as a mechanic in the race shop in 1966. Three years later, working on his own time, he constructed what …

Riding Into History Salutes Legends of Flat Track

Riding Into History Newsletter

Next May’s 19th annual Riding Into History Concours d’Elegance will feature competition motorcycles.  Of all the varied forms of motorcycle racing, flat track is uniquely American. Over a century ago, the first races were held at horse tracks, they still are today. The races remain remarkably similar, as do the motorcycles, stripped down, no nonsense, bare minimalistic and brutal in appearance and performance. Absolute purity of purpose. In keeping with our focus on flat track, Riding Into History will have two of the greatest legends of the sport serving as joint Grand Marshals. Who are they? Think about the most …

The second in a series of posts on some motorcycles and owners seen at our most recent event. These may not be big winners, or mega dollar examples, but we hope you will find their stories of interest. Mark Becker is a car guy. He’s owned everything from a flock of Bantams to an AAR ’Cuda to his current Packard convertible, award winners all. If that is not sufficient proof, consider he closed a successful legal practice to become the Vice Chairman of the Amelia Island Concours. But in his youth, Mark was a motocrosser, a pretty good one. He …

Last Chance for Sargent Cycle Products Gift Certificates

Riding Into History Newsletter

We have 2 remaining gift certificates donated by Sargent Cycle Products. This is your last chance!  These are $300 certificates we are selling for just $150. They are exchangeable towards both seats and services. Sargent is rightly well known for the World Sport seats they make for most popular late model motorcycles. But did you know they also provide a custom service? This is a great resource for our restorations or preservations of old bikes. Down here in Florida at least, over the years our heat gets to the foam. It literally turns to dust, loses its shape, and makes …

Spotted at Riding Into History is a series of posts on some motorcycles and owners seen at the most recent event. These may not be big winners, or mega dollar examples, but we hope you will find their stories of interest. Jack Wells is a BMW guy, he bleeds blue and white. We’re not sure how many Beemers he has, probably north of sixty. His bikes have podiumed at two Cannonball Rallies, his show bikes are among the best in the world. In the early days of RIH, when we were in dire need of good motorcycles, Jack would fill …
